DAZZLING

DAZZLING is an antique watch dealer in Harajuku, Tokyo, with a history of operating in both the UK and Japan. The perspective on antiques reflects the spirit of the European collectors who genuinely love old things — and the stock is selected with that sensibility. Watches are chosen for originality above all: parts are not swapped to improve appearance, and each piece is maintained as close to its original state as possible while remaining fully functional and wearable.

The shop itself is refined and distinctly European in atmosphere, while the staff are easy to approach — the experience is a comfortable one. The stock includes genuinely rare and very old pieces; for those concerned about future servicing, DAZZLING will fabricate parts from scratch when none are available. That commitment to keeping a watch in long-term use is rare among dealers in Japan — closer in spirit to restoring an old European car than to what most watch shops offer, and it's what makes this place genuinely interesting.

The focus is on IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Hamilton, Lemania chronographs, Omega, Cartier, and Rolex — primarily pre-1950s examples, with strong representation from the 1940s through 1960s. Watches that have earned their place in horological history, and pieces that serious collectors and enthusiasts seek out, sit quietly in the display cases. Browsing alone is worth the visit.

IWC Mark11 RAF Royal-Air-Force

Commissioned by the British Ministry of Defence in the late 1940s, the IWC Mark 11 was built to genuine military specification for the Royal Air Force — that's the origin of the RAF designation. Anti-magnetic, dust-resistant, highly legible, and built to fly: an introduction to a watch that remains entirely practical to wear today.
