CORLEONE

A long-established dealer in antique Rolex and Tudor, located in Harajuku, Tokyo. Their eye for condition is exceptional — the selection runs from pieces with serious collector value to more accessibly priced examples that work as wearable fashion. Whatever you choose here, you won't go wrong. Their attention to dial condition in particular is among the finest in Japan.

As a shop with deep roots and long history, they know the provenance and condition of their customers' watches. Pieces that never reach the open market — watches of exceptional value with solid, traceable histories — pass through here regularly. That provenance makes it possible to buy with confidence even at the high end.

Sport Rolex is the core of the inventory, with dress watches — Oyster, Datejust — well represented alongside. Their depth in Submariner and Sea-Dweller is particularly strong; this is one of the shops credited with establishing the reputation of the Red Sub and Red Sea-Dweller among collectors.

The location brings in a fashion-world clientele, and the regulars tend to be people with broad interests. Conversations with the staff range well beyond watches — and it's the kind of shop where you arrive intending to stay ten minutes and find yourself still there an hour later.

Rolex GMT Master 1675 1964

An introduction to the Rolex GMT Master with its red-and-blue "Pepsi" bezel. The example I own is a reference 1675, made in 1964 — from the mirror dial era. The aging on this piece has developed naturally over the decades, and it has become one of my most treasured watches.
